Brazil · Northeast region

Northeast Brazil: coast, culture, Sertão and extraordinary variety.

The Northeast combines some of Brazil’s strongest beach travel with Afro-Brazilian culture, colonial cities, music, food, dunes, canyons and the semi-arid Sertão. It is one of the easiest regions to imagine as “sun and coast” and one of the biggest mistakes to reduce to that alone.

Region overview

Northeast Brazil

Salvador, Recife, Fortaleza, Maceió and Natal work as major gateways, while islands, smaller beach towns and inland landscapes create very different extensions. Distances are large, so the best Northeast trips usually focus on one or two coherent areas rather than trying to collect the entire coastline.
