Minas Gerais
The state works especially well as a road-trip destination. Historic towns cluster in the central and southern areas, while national parks and rural landscapes add hiking, waterfalls, cheese and wildlife. Distances are substantial enough that choosing one corridor is usually better than trying to cross the entire state.
