There are no normal road transfers between its best experiences. Trails, boats, weather and the Atlantic Forest shape each day, which is precisely why the island feels so different from mainland resorts.
Lopes Mendes, Aventureiro and smaller coves are memorable partly because access is by trail or boat. The journey between places is part of the island rather than wasted transfer time.
