The journey
This is a true overland journey rather than a collection of fly-in highlights, and the changing landscape is part of the point. Porto Alegre gives the route an urban beginning, Serra Gaúcha adds food, wine-country atmosphere and mountain towns, the canyons around Cambará do Sul make the trip feel wilder, and Florianópolis provides a coastal finish after the long south-Brazil drive.
