The royal botanical garden is also known as Jardim Botanico and is located in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This garden is over 200 years old. It is one of the most beautiful and best protected green areas in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The total area of botanical garden is 140 hectors and lies at the foot of the Corcovado Mountain. There are more than 7000 plants species. The garden has 134 palm lined avenue.
Among the plants there are also orchids, bromeliads, cacti, huge bamboos and different types of carnivorous plants. The Rio de Janeiro botanical garden is largely green not exceedingly floral. (more…)
