Brazil company sells cellphones with iPhone name - Gradiente Neo One iPhoneA Brazilian company started selling a smartphone called iPhone in Brazil. This smartphone is actually not from California based company Apple Inc. After winning the legal right to use the name iPhone in Latin America’s biggest country back in 2008, Gradiente SA is now selling their smartphone. The phone even┬áruns on the Android operating system from Apple’s archrival Google Inc.┬áBrazilian trademark office spokeswoman Maratan Marques said Gradiente requested permission to use the brand before Apple did. Now they have the exclusive right to use it through 2018, for now.

Gradiente started selling its iPhone on Tuesday for 600 reals, about $300. This is a lot cheaper than Apple’s iPhone. It runs on an older Android version 2.3.4. As well it features a 3.7-inch touch-screen, Bluetooth, dual chip, 3G, Wi-Fi, 5MP camera, GPS+ and 2GB of memory. Its appearance is similar to that of Apple’s iPhone, but only similar.
